2026 / 2027 Concert Series
Celebrating five years of Queen City Chorale
We Remember Them
Our season opens with The Sacred Veil by Eric Whitacre, a poignant work tracing love, illness, and loss. Written after lyricist Charles Anthony Silvestri lost his wife to ovarian cancer, the piece reflects a reality that has touched nearly every family.
Presented in partnership with GYN Cancers Alliance (GYNCA) during National Ovarian Cancer Awareness Month, this concert acknowledges grief as a natural part of life while offering music as a vehicle for healing, remembrance, and connection. In addition to ticket sales, guests will be invited to make a freewill offering benefiting GYNCA and its mission to support individuals and families impacted by gynecologic cancers in the Ozarks.
We close with “We Remember Them” by Susan LaBarr, a moving work by the Springfield-based composer that reminds us remembrance carries love forward long after loss.
This program invites our community into a shared reflection that is honest, tender, compassionate, and ultimately hopeful.

Our winter concert turns toward joy and accessibility, featuring The Reluctant Dragon by John Rutter, based on the children’s story later adapted by Disney. We’ll also be sharing the stage with The Wildcat Choir from Logan-Rogersville Upper Elementary School, directed by Nathan Cook!
With staging, narration, and audience participation, this family-centered performance introduces children to live choral music in an imaginative, welcoming, and sensory-friendly way, alongside some traditional holiday carols.
If the arts are to flourish, the next generation must feel invited into the room. This concert makes that invitation clear.

Rooted In Song
As we celebrate our fifth season, we’re excited to share our spring concert, Rooted in Song, a special program honoring five years of Queen City Chorale. This concert will feature some of our favorite selections and audience-loved “greatest hits” from seasons past, celebrating the music, memories, and community that have shaped QCC since the beginning.
We are also honored to present this concert as part of the First & Calvary Musical Offerings series, and we’re grateful for the opportunity to share this milestone performance with the Springfield community.
Queen City Sings
John Rutter’s Gloria
We’re thrilled to announce the return of Queen City Sings in July 2027!
This special project invites members of the Springfield community to join Queen City Chorale on stage for a collaborative performance featuring John Rutter’s Gloria. We’re especially excited that this second-ever Queen City Sings concert will be presented in partnership with the Galloway Chamber Orchestra, under the direction of Foster Beyers, making it an unforgettable experience for singers and audiences alike.
